E-Visuals -Show don't Tell!
- Visual representations of information have been the simplest way to pass information since cave paintings, in fact, that would make them the first. The spoken word did not become written until some 15,000 years later. And in the last few decades the sheer quantity and complexity of the information being communicated has all but defeated the written word. But for all that, we are being figuratively drowned in words, especially electronic words.
Ironically, visual graphics still are the most effective way to communicate and process even, and especially, the highly sophisticated and abstract data which is our world today. The reasons are simple.
- 1. Almost half of our brain is dedicated to visual processing.
- 2. Understanding of instructions with graphics improves 325% over text only.
- 3. People remember:
- 10% of what they hear
- 7-% of what they read
- 100% of what they do and see.
- The need to connect significantly with quality content on a regular basis, is the key to successful marketing in the new millennium. But to communicate that information electronically in human-friendly e-visuals, INFOgraphics and content-rich imagery can make all the difference between just pumping out words, and making the sale. As Marshall McLuhan said long ago "The Media is the Message". Don't strafe your customer's brain with a blitz of words, work with their minds, the way their minds work...visually. Because seeing really is believing!
